5 Most Expensive Homes Sold in Massachusetts

Print Friendly

The luxury real estate market is alive and well in Massachusetts. In 2013, 41 homes sold for 5 million dollars or more, 46% more homes than in 2012.

To find out which homes sold for the most money, we ran a report on MLS Property Information Network (which sometimes does not include all properties sold on Cape Cod, Nantucket, or Martha’s Vineyard.)  2 of the top 5 are located in the Back Bay, one of the most attractive—and expensive—neighborhoods in Boston due to its tree-lined streets, historic architecture, proximity to the best restaurants, shopping, and parks. These homes share many of the amenities luxury home buyers are looking for: spectacular views, gourmet kitchens, lush gardens, and outdoor living space.

A few facts about the top 5 homes:

  • The largest square footage was 26,000
  • The most bedrooms was 10
  • The most bathrooms was 13
  • The highest cost per square foot was $1,800
  • Highest taxes were over $200,000 for one year
